As a nurse in long term care, I have cautioned families who's loved ones were prescribed this med of possible side effects and have monitered blood sugars in residents on this med. Other nurses were reluctant to agree with these warnings and interventions. Nurses are also advocates for the people they care for or should be. My residents well-being is my first priority,and despite my coworkers opinions of my practices, they will remain my first priority. Always research any med prescribed to a loved one or yourself, and feel free to question the prescriber with any concerns. Be pro-active in your health and well being.
