Heating Oil, Propane Prices: New Internet Tool To Compare Heating Oil & Propane Prices
As we start our heating season there is a new online tool to check to see if you are paying a fair rate for your heating oil and propane.
www.lowermyheat.com, still under construction, has price comparisons already in 30 states, including Connecticut, according to Arik Keller, of LowerMyHeat LLC.
I did a quick tour of the site and it looks like it will be helpful to many of us. Consumer participation will make it more comprehensive. Give it a twirl and let us know what you think.

Don’t think “lowermyheat.com” is of much use. Seems like they are just gathering information, vs giving information. I put in two different prices I “was paying” changing only the price and my email. (Same location, same date of delivery) — Came back with two wildly different “what my neighbors are paying”. Hmmmm…… seems fishy to me.
Any recommendations for a propane supplier in Cheshire? Current company (Arrow) wants $5.30 per gallon. Seems high?? I used 122 gallons in 2009 for cooking and a fireplace.
I assume it would be better to buy my own tank and shop around for the gas delivery. Any reccomendations on where to purchase the tank?
My oil company posts their prices. I believe Propane companies should also post their current price (on usage).
There will soon be a new discount program available to multi unit housing owners. I am collaborating with others on this program and will keep you posted. It will be part of a membership package primarily for the rental-property owners benefit.
