Jimmie Rivers is the pen name of a California man who has done more than any other journalist to expose how the Better Business Bureau has sold out the consumers it is supposed to protect.
Jimmie, a former television journalist and now a businessman – uses the pen name to protect himself and his business friends from retribution from the powerful BBB.
He launched his website, BBBroundup.com two years ago to help expose the improper and perhaps illegal activities of the Southland (Los Angeles) BBB chapter, the largest of the 122 chapters in the U.S. and Canada.
He brought to light how a group of anonymous California businessmen were able to prove that the BBB’s new grading system is simply a money-making scam by registering “Hamas” as an accredited business. The BBB touted Hamas on its website as top business having an A- rating. The BBB did nothing to check out the business before giving it the high rating, other than taking a $425 payment.
Jimmie appeared – with his back to the camera – on the ABC TV 20/20 investigation this month on the BBB.
