HARTFORD, January 29 – The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is alerting consumers to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall of the CYBEX Strollers for repair due to risk of fingertip amputation and laceration hazard. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.
This recalled product was manufactured in China and distributed by Regal Lager Inc., of Kennesaw, Georgia. The stroller’s hinge mechanism poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding and/or opening the stroller. There has been one (1) report of a child placing his finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in a finger fracture. This recall involves Ruby, Onyx and Topaz models of CYBEX umbrella strollers. “CYBEX†is printed on the side of the strollers.
The recalled strollers were sold at department and juvenile product stores nationwide from August 2009 through November 2009 for approximately $140.00 to $260.00.
Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr., strongly recommends consumers check their strollers for this recalled product, if found, cease using immediately and contact Regal Lager to receive a free hinge cover retrofit kit. For additional information, contact the Company Service Center toll free at (800) 593-5522 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday or visit their Web site at www.regallager.com/recalls – consumers may also email the firm at info@regallager.com .
