At least 15 law firms across the country are taking legal action against Toyota seeking more than $1 billion in damages as the result of  unexpected acceleration problems and now breaking issus.
According to Connecticut Law Tribune, the firms plan at least 30 more law suits in 25 states. Most of the suits are on behalf of consumers whose vehicles have lost economic value because of the recalls, the Law Tribune said. Shareholder class action suits are sure to follow.
“It’s going to be a formidable legal armada that Toyota is going to have to deal with,†said Tim Howard, a professor at Northeastern University in Boston and a plaintiffs’ attorney who specializes in consumer and products liability litigation, the Law Tribune said today in its Internet edition.
