Meriden Tour Operator Finally Refunds Customer’s Payment For Cancelled Trip

Barbara Zentarski of Plantsville was looking forward to a tour of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for the middle of August in 2012.

But one week before the trip, Silver Mill Tours – the Meriden tour operator – cancelled it saying there was a lack of interest.

The company assured Zentarski that the $739 she had paid would quickly be refunded to her.

But a year and a half later the refund had still not arrived.

“I called them several times, e-mailed them and all I get is the run around.  I contacted the Attorney General’s office in June and they didn’t do much except e-mail them and they couldn’t get my money back.  I’m the innocent party here and all I want is my $739 refunded back to me,” she wrote CtWatchdog. “When I did have communication with them I was told that the bus company had my money.”

I contacted Donna Calvy, owner of Silver Mill Tours, who said the bus operator kept all the payments and she has been involved in legal dispute with them.

However, Calvy said she has repaid all the other customers and that somehow Zentarski “fell through the cracks.”

She immediately sent a check to Zentarski for the full amount.

It seems that people with valid complaints don`t have many places to turn excepting a web site such as this one.. Keep up the fine work in the name of little people!

I had a very similar experience with Silver Mill Tours in September 2012. I booked a weekend trip to Baltimore with them for my parents, my fiancee & myself & paid in full in May 2012. I recieved a letter two weeks before the scheduled date of the trip informing me that it was cancelled. After several attempts to extract a refund from the owner Donna, I finally had to resort to disputing the charges with my credit card company. Donna was quite rude in our phone conversations & had plenty of excuses for not returning my money. Fortunately my credit card company was much easier to deal with.

This same company owes the hotel I work with around $4000.00 from 2011. Initial check must have been made of rubber as it bounced. Donna kept saying check was in the mail. Many of the same claims that appear here. Went through the court system and won. Still not paid. Said company is infamous for this. I just wish the guests that stay with us and enjoyed their stay knew of our plight. This company has been tossed out of trade organizations for shady practices. The sad part is they still sell trips. Check out their rating on the Connecticut BBB. Pathetic. I am not sure how she can sleep. I am not fabricating anything as it is the truth.

I too am a victim of Silver Mill Tours not re-imbursing me for a cancelled 2 day bus trip.
I prepaid on 8-8-16 a bus trip to Philadelphia departure on 10-31-16 The check $678. was deposited in their bank on 8-10-16. I called Donna Calvin-Sullivan of Silver Mill Tours several times and each times was told the check would be in the mail in a few days, never happened. As of 12-16-16 no contact or check. All I want is to receive the $678. due to me.
