CtWatchdog Endorses George Jepsen For Conn Attorney General

Making a decision on who CtWatchdog would endorse for the critical post of Attorney General for Connecticut was fairly easy.

While Republican Martha Dean of Avon is a smart and hard-working person, her qualifications pale next to her Democratic opponent’s George Jepsen.

Jepsen of Ridgefield is a sophisticated, seasoned, likable, and experienced lawyer who was proven himself during the 16 years he served in the General Assembly as co-chair of the Judiciary Committee, Senate majority leader and finance committee ranking member.

He has degrees from Harvard and Kennedy School of government.

His government service, combined with his academic resume as well as his even temperament, and his ability to understand complex issues are required to head the 200-staff Attorney General’s office.

His steady hands will be needed as Attorney General’s office has been reeling from revelations that its present head – Richard Blumenthal – has been misstating as the traditional media calls it – his military record. In more plain English, Blumenthal had been caught lying about being a combat veteran in Vietnam when he did all he could not to get sent anywhere near there during the war.

Jepsen will also be a much lower-key Attorney General, who will give credit to others for their work, cooperate with other state agencies, and despite being a politician will not need to be on television daily.
