The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Dorel Juvenile Group, of Columbus, Indiana are voluntarily recalling about 97,000 Eddie Bauer Rocking Wood Bassinets because of a design flaw that poses a suffocation hazard to infants, the Department of Consumer Protection announced today.

Consumers should stop using the bassinets immediately. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Dorel has received 17 reports of incidents with the recalled bassinets, involving very young infants, so this is a serious concern,” consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today. “In two cases, the infants were reported to have had breathing difficulties after they rolled into the side of their bassinets.”

The recalled Eddie Bauer Rocking Wood Bassinets have a dark brown wooden headboard and footboard with “Eddie Bauer” printed on a metal plate on the bassinet’s footboard. The following model numbers are being recalled: 10632, 10639, 10832, 10835, 10839 and BT021. The model number is located under the mattress, on the top surface of the mattress support board or on the wash and care label.

The items were sold at Target, Toys R Us and Sears stores nationwide and online at Ebay and other websites from December 2007 through January 2011 for about $150.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact Dorel for a free repair kit, which includes a spring and new instructions for assembly,” Rubenstein said.

Call Dorel Juvenile Group toll-free at (877) 416-0165, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or www.djgusa.com and click on Safety Notices for more information.

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection enforces many safety regulations for toys and other children’s articles. Important laws include the Connecticut State Child Protection Act and the Federal Consumer Product Safety Act.

If you purchased it there I would think so, you would need a receipt
