Attorneys General Sue 5-Hour Energy Claiming False Advertisting

Attorneys general is three states have sued energy drink 5-hour Energy claiming that the popular product falsely claims that ingredients other that caffeine are giving users a boost.

The company claims that B-vitamins, amino acids, nutrients – besides caffeine – are giving users extra energy.

Attorney generals from Oregon, Washington and Vermont say its only caffeine that is providing the boost.

“The other ingredients do not provide any of the benefits,” the lawsuit claims according to CBS Money Watch.

A spokeswoman for the drink was defiant about the issue, saying that Oregon’s attorney general was “grasping at straws,” says Money Watch.

“When companies are being bullied by someone in a position of power, these companies roll over, pay the ransom, and move on,” company spokeswoman Melissa Skabich said in a statement to media outlets. “We’re not doing that.”
