Thanks to Consumer Reports for its review of Flomax, which its manufacturer, Boehringer Ingelheim spent more than $100 million advertising on television last year.
The marketing campaign work, for BI, racking up sales of more than $1 billion last year.
But for patients, Consumer Reports says it reviewed evidence from 60 studies and found that the generic drug Doxazosin works just as well.
The difference in price: Flomax is more than $200 a month, Doxazosin is less than $10.
That is a 2,000 percent difference.
