Once again Pat Giorgio comes through Connecticut drumming up business for the Guaranteed weight loss program through hypnosis. What is guaranteed is that Giorgio and newspapers like the Courant, which get huge bucks from his ads, will be making money off of you.
Folks, let me tell you something: I believe that hypnosis can be a very helpful medical tool for issues like stress, pain management, giving up cigarettes (I did). But there is absolutely no evidence that one session with a hypnotist in a large group of people will help you shed one ounce.
The only thing that is guaranteed is that you will have wasted your money.
Losing weight is a difficult process. If hypnosis were the answer there would be no overweight people. Can hypnosis work for weight loss. Yes, as part of a long-term program with a clinical psychologist. You still have to exercise and eat less and change your eating patterns.
Check out what the Mayo Clinic has to say: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss-hypnosis/AN01617.
By the way, I contacted Giorgio’s office and spoke with a service rep seeking an interview from Giorgio. Have yet to hear from him. She did assure me that his program works of “countless of people.”
Well, I can count.
If you attend, or have attended, one of his sessions, please clue us in.

George, FYI, the Mayo Clinic link in your article doesn’t work. But this one will: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss-hypnosis/AN01617
Well done Mr. Gombossy! As you and I BOTH know, losing weight is a lengthy process that incorporates ALL that you mentioned in this article and then some! There will never be a substitute for a quality program that incorporates strength training, proper nutrition, cardiovascular exercise, and proper rest and recovery. This is fact. Where’s the proof in hypnosis as an answer for weight loss. It’s just another “magic pill” that sucks the public in and takes advantage of their unfortunate naivety.
Just want to say that I attended a “Stop Smoking†hypnosis session run by Pat Giorgio and found that the most important emphasis of the session was placed on selling their supplements. After informing the audience how their bodies suffered from smoking (which we all know to be true) they would tout the advantages of using these supplements, but did not tell you that they were the ones selling them. Unfortunately I invited someone else to attend this seminar with me in the hopes we could quit smoking. Needless to say, we were both disappointed with the seminar as were many others.
weight loss is a complicated and long term difficult problem. These, and other, fly by night programs are an insult to health professionals who are working to help people. These one time cure programs are a throw back to the 30′s and earlier times when Hypnosis was not a scientifically established profession with AMA endorsement, but rather seen as a psudo/paranormal phenomena with amazing powers. It is unfortunate that the public has to suffer economically to perputate this myth and that a paper greedy for advertising revenue perpetuates this sham.
I just attended Pat’s seminar last night and found it informative. Yes, they push their supplements, but I have a cabinet full of similar supplements I’d bought on my own in the past few years from the advice of my chiropractor. Supplements are important, especially since we don’t always eat nutritious foods. But you don’t have to buy them if you don’t want to, and he only does this during the short break. Pat also stresses exercising and increased water intake. I have done just about everything in the past to lose weight, but Pat turned the light on when he told me I should have been doing everything in conjunction with each other. I also wanted the hypnosis to stop the craving for things I know I shouldn’t be eating/drinking.
I had all the tools but wasn’t using them properly. Pat got me motivated again, yeah! You only get out what you put into something. If you are relying on the hypnosis alone to lose the weight, yes, you will fail. It is a multi-step process. I feel confident now that I can get results and that is thanks to Pat. Thank you Pat!!
Good luck Dee. Its too bad that Pat doesn’t tell you up front that one session of hypnosis with a bunch of supllements has very little chance of helping anyone quit smoking, but it does fatten his wallet.
The Dog
I have worked with Pat Giorgio doing the seminars and selling the supplements, true, his main concern is to make money and sell as many supplements as possible… he makes 5.00 for every bottle of supplements that he sells…and …. if you happen to pay cash for them, the cash goes into his pocket. It is true that hypnosis can be of help to quit smoking or lose weight but it isnt really necessary. We all know what it takes to lose weight or quit smoking. Pat Giorgio is nothing but a snake-oil salesman! And by the way he happens to live in a half a million dollar house thanks to all of you people who keep believing in miracles!
My Mother-in-Law gave me the newspaper and asked me to go. So I went last night to the Stop Smoking Seminar. It was a waste of $50.00 and a lesson learned. If anyone believes they will get their money back they are crazy that man isn’t giving up a dime. The minute I walked in he was bullying people as they came in being very sure to show he was dominate which is not a person I was comfortable going into a deep relaxation with. When I sat down I counted there were only 7 people. I thought to myself he didn’t drive all the way to Ohio from Jersey for 7 people at $50.00 a pop. There has to be a hook. As you all know there was. Over priced vitamins. Don’t waste your time or money on this crap!! Not to mention he is a terribly unpleasant man to spend an evening with.
