Duncan Haimerl, a former Courant business news editor and its longtime automotive columnist, died Monday in Kent, where he was recuperating from surgery, The Courant reported.
Haimerl, 72, of Warren, was a news editor and wrote weekly auto reviews and a wildly popular q and a column over the past 30 years.
A native of Canada, Haimerl lived in Northwest Connecticut, where he test drove cars for his syndicated column.

Haimerl lived his life unconventionally, doing what he thought was best for himself and his family. He had a kind heart, and never a bad word against anyone. He loved a challenge and was a whiz with computers, machines that many of us who worked with him had little clue about.
His always positive spirit will be missed.
