If you are an animal lover like us (two dogs and two cats), odds are you spend some time dealing with shedding issues, including hairballs.
Now if your animals sleep with you (three of them do including the BIG dog), you are also doing a lot of washing to get rid of the fur, especially the short fur from a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
So when I was in PETCO the other day looking for a way to prevent the BIG dog from wolfing down his meal in 30 seconds (found a silver ball that fits in the dish), I came across the FURminator.
It looked impressive, like something you would see in a grooming shop, and it was pricey, $40. I asked the clerk how well it worked and she raved about it.
Knowing I had 30 days to return it with the receipt I took a chance and purchased it.
I am so glad I did. The FURminator is WONDERFUL. It actually does what it’s supposed to do and our dogs and cats love it. Our black cat purred every second while I was grooming him. It has a nice, heavy feel to it. It fits comfortably in my hand. And you can just let it glide over your pet’s fur. It even has an ejector button.
“Reduce your pet’s shedding by 90 percent with the FURminator deShedding Tool. Its uniquely designed blade does not cut, but grabs and removes loose hair and undercoat hair quickly and easily, leaving a shiny, healthy topcoat,” the ad for the FURminator states.
“By removing loose, dead hairs, the FURminator also eliminates shedding and the cleanliness and allergy problems that accompany it. Less hair on your cat or dog means less hair on your furniture and floors. The FURminator’s tough stainless steel 2.65-inch blade is designed to grab hair and remove it without causing your pet pain or damaging its topcoat. The FURejector is a convenient button that lets you empty the collected fur from the shedding blade safely and quickly. Just push the button, and the fur is easily released. Get fast, amazing results every time with both long- and short-haired shedding breeds. Reduces shedding better than any brush, rake, or comb, and brings out the pet’s natural oils, which promotes healthier skin. Helps eliminate hairballs in cats too.”
Before buying something that I can’t return easily, I always check Amazon for reader reviews. The vast majority of the readers agreed with my experience. Forty-two of 47 people who bought the unit that I did ($10 cheaper on Amazon) gave it the highest rating possible – 5 stars.
Check it out on Amazon.com, where you can see reviews and a video of the Furminator at work

This is without a doubt the best tool to have if you have animals. Our cats & dogs just love to be furminated. I, too, was a bit skeptical when I heard about it but thought what did I have to lose. It works like nothing I’ve ever used before. Yes it is expensive but I would pay ALOT more for it. I never want to be without my Furminator!
