Blumenthal Now Stretching The Truth As A U.S. Senator

It appears that Richard Blumenthal has not learned his lesson that lying will come back to haunt you.

First he told dozens of small gatherings in Connecticut when he was the Attorney General that he was a Marine in Vietnam. At times he indicated he was a combat Marine. Never mind that he did all he could to stay out of Vietnam and never left the U.S. as a Marine Reserve.

Now, according to highly respected Connecticut political blogger Kevin Rennie’s Daily Ructions, Blumenthal recently told a press conference in Washington D.C. “Since the days of Roe v. Wade, when I clerked for Justice Blackmun, as a state legislator, as attorney general, I have fought this battle.”

“Whoops, he didn’t clerk for Justine Blackmun until the year after Roe v. Wade was decided,” Rennie wrote. And the reason that is important is that Blackmum WROTE the majority opinion.

Instead of apologizng for his mistake, Rennie wrote, Blumenthal’s chief of staff, Laurie Rubiner went on the attack when Deidre Shesgreen of the Connecticut Mirror asked about the latest falsehood.

“Rubiner let loose with the menacing declaration that holds the attention of its target: “We will remember this.” Rennie wrote. And that was to a reporter who works for a non-profit news site that is Democratic in its orientation.

CtMirror.org, which never fully took Blumenthal to task for his Vietnam lies, did finally nail him on this one.

Next Blumenthal will be claiming he was really in Egypt working for the protesters.

  1. I’m sorry, but this is just stupid. He included clerking for Blackmun with being atty general , etc.
Roe V Wade was the starting point of his statement. Nit picking like this is why nobody believes anything the press writes anymore. Sniffing the ground like a dog looking for the scent of impropriety. Focus on something important.

    • Joan Carol, you sound like a gut-wounded hyena stopping to eat its own entrails. This is not about picking nits, but about a man in government who is a pathological liar. Yeah, the media in general cannot be believed, but not for the moronic reasons you have stated.

    • Nit-picking indicates he’s still a liar and is also why nobody has a lick of respect for most professional politicians.

    • This is the point, he implied he did. Blackmun wrote the decision in Roe v. Wade. Just as he implied he served overseas during Vietnam because he was in the reserves DURING Vietnam.

  2. Yah….like the truth????

  3. when you lie in one thing…you lie in all things…like being in nam…..,or being a ”good american…,CT will learn that being a liberal is a terrible thing for america!! i’m ashamed to tell people i’m from CT!!

  4. Bill clinton….lied,al gore lies…..tricky dick the AG from CT lies….we dont need to ”put our noses to the ground” to smell these ”!!

  5. What a bunch of petty garbage. If you can’t find anything more worthwhile to write about, find a day job. This is pathetic.

This thread is very proper and timely. Many if not all Nam Vets still suffer the memories of that place and time. It is only fitting the the lier be made to suffer in the same way for his thieft of honor. Let him forever live his lies and be reminded of them. We have a saying in the Corp that when we pass on St. Peter will open the gate for us because we have spent our time in hell. Not so for RB, he hasn’t started to spend any time there.

We Marines are a brotherhood. Richard wasn’t a Marine when he enlisted, didn’t become one during boot training and has not shown that he is worthy of the title by his actions and lies about his service. As far as I’m conserned his existance answers the eternal question of what is lower then whale dung on the bottom of the ocean.
