If you have been buying Clinique products because you believe the company’s claim that they are oil-free, you might be in for a surprise.

A federal court lawsuit says Clinique is falsely making that claim in as many as eight of its products.

The June 28 suit – filed in Illinois – charges that the following products contain oil despite Clinique’ claims:

Beyond Perfecting foundation + concealer

Dramatically Different moisturizing gel

Stay-Matte sheer pressed powder

Stay-Matte oil-free make up

Super City Block

City Block oil-free daily face protector

Superdefense City Block

The products contain such chemicals as “dimethicone, tocopherol, isononyl isononanoate,
neopentyl glycol diheptanoate
.” the suit says.

Clinique Accused Of Falsely Advertising These Products As Containing “Probiotic Technology”

The Illinois suit is the second legal action this year against Clinique’s advertising.

A March 3 suit filed in New York says Clinique is falsely claiming that its Redness Solutions cosmetic products contain live probiotics.

“The Clinique Cosmetics contain preservatives that are intended to prevent or decrease microbial growth and therefore render any active probiotic ingredients inert,” the suit says.
